Colour Psychology & mood impressions

BE colour wise

The colour of a room can have a stronger mood effect than you think. Typically, people will tend to be attracted to a certain colour scheme or feeling, however, is that colour really going to be perceived in the right way by everyone else. Designers usually suggest looking through magazines or websites to try and find the right feel. Once you find the colour scheme, try to stick to 3-4 colours max. Too many colours often looks too busy and crowded.

Red

Red is excitement, it can raise the energy in a room especially at night. Red works best in rooms that people come together in an elegant way. It creates a strong first impression that works well in entrance ways and living rooms, however it is not ideal for bedrooms or calming rooms.

A general rule is to leave the ceiling white. A dark ceiling can feel claustrophobic and lower. Brighter colours, especially compared to the walls make the room bigger and higher.
